Reviewing Yvonne Long, Owner & Photographer of Photography by Yvonne
The Ring's staff selected Photography by Yvonne to review for several reasons. We loved this young woman from the moment we sat in her home studio amidst a wall-sized Monet print, comfy decor and endless examples of photos. She is married, has two children, a big smile and an eye for finding beauty where you wouldn't think to look.
Yvonne has been a wedding photographer for thirteen years and it's no wonder why. Her flair for the artistic side of photography allows her to take amazing shots, specializing in unique photo effects, and take great candid photographs - which is not easy. Yvonne is a pro at all methods of capturing your perfect day, but what we like most about her, is that when you go through her work, you
can see that each time she shoots a wedding, a new technique is discovered so that the job is never 'just another wedding'.
Getty comfy and 'strutting your stuff'... One of Yvonne's strengths is her ability to make any bride and groom feel comfortable. Whether you're the strut-your-stuff kind of girl, or the sight of a camera makes you cringe... you'll feel at ease with Yvonne behind the lens. And the end results will have any girl feeling like a celebrity! Yvonne uses the engagement photo shoot (included in your package!) as one of her ways to get to know each couple, learn how the two of you are together and more about your personalities and how to reflect this in your wedding album.
Yvonne takes all of her photographs in digital format and that offers you several advantages. You will have your choice of colour, black and white, sepia (brown-toned), as well as special effects such as hand-colouring and other for each and every photo.
Digital also offers new possibilities such as composite or collage-style pages which are several related photos laid out in a magazine-style manner and printed in one large print. Composite prints are a hot new trend that allows brides to turn their albums into their own wedding magazines and to create drama on each and every page.
When you book Photography by Yvonne, you will receive a full photographic representation of your wedding day in beautiful photos. This will include both traditional poses, as well as more casual and candid moments. Yvonne will be there for the important moments of the day starting with shots of the bride at her home (or wherever you plan to get ready), up until pre-posed reception photos. She'll be there capturing stunning images of you, your bridal party, your family and your guests along with an additional assistant who will take photos, in order to capture an album full of great memories.
Because Yvonne is in high demand for area brides, she usually hopes for eight to twelve months of advance notice to book a wedding. However if you're strapped for time or are getting married on an off-day, it's worth giving her a call to see if she can fit you in.
Yvonne's pricing for her wedding packages depends on the final album you choose to display your prints but she has two very popular bridal packages that give you tons to take home.
Choose from either the Storybook Collection for $2600, or the Designer Collection for $2900. Each one includes an engagement session, coverage from the bride's home up to pre-posed reception photos, two photographers (Yvonne and an assistant), proofs presented in a catalogue, online hosting of your images for viewing and ordering, and choice of your style of album. With the Designer Collection you'll receive even more to choose from including parent albums, enlargements and a guest signing album.
Yvonne invites you to call or email her for her any customized package information. She will go over your particular needs throughout your wedding day and then provide you with options and a quote.
detailsdetailsdetails • Yvonne has two pre-set packages with varying coverage and options but she is open to customizing any of them to suite your needs. • You can also choose to hire Yvonne based on hourly rate of $275 if you order a wedding album, or $350 without an album purchase. There is a minimum 4 hour requirement for Saturdays during the wedding season, but she is open to shorter bookings for alternate days. With this option, you'll still receive a proof catalogue of all edited images, as well as online hosting of your photos for viewing and ordering. • A deposit of 50% of the package price is due in order to reserve your wedding date. The remainder plus the taxes are due at proof catalogue pick up. • The deposit is non-refundable. • All prices do not include applicable taxes. • Yvonne offers many 'a la carte' options as well - from custom-designed Thank You Cards to a DVD with a high resolution copy of your images.
