Interviewing Hala Jawad, Owner of Hues for Events
Two years ago, Hues for Events earned their place in the hearts of London brides by offering one of a kind wedding favours that are each handmade by its Owner, Hala Jawad. And that was just the beginning. In December 2008, Hala decided to take her passion for weddings one very big step further by expanded her business into a much bigger space and a variety of new services.
Hues for Events' new home on Main Street in Lambeth has given Hala the opportunity to cater wedding accessories aimed at "organizing, personalizing and accessorizing" your wedding. So from picture frames and wedding favours to making your own scrapbooks, pearl jewellery and crafts, Hala is going to be the woman to see, if you're a hands-on brides who ranks style and personalization among the top of your wedding priorities.
About Hala Hala Jawad is the heart of the Hues operation... And the hands behind so many of the wedding favours and accessories you've probably seen on display at local bridal shows or in her shop. Having immigrated to Canada from Lebanon just four years ago, Hala took her skill and knowledge as a diamond grader (jewellery expert and designer) in her past country and developed a hobby of creating unique favours and accessories to enhance themes at wedding parties. Now Hala has turned that hobby into a very busy business focused entirely on brides. Over two hundred brides, in fact, have created their favours with Hala's help.
Adding even further to the many ways she can offer style and advice to London brides, Hala earned her Canadian AJP status in 2008 - meaning she's also an Accredited Jeweller Professional.
Favours from scratch Favours are still Hues' biggest request. Hala has worked with countless brides to create favours in almost any colour, style and shape. In her store, you'll find hundreds of ways to customize the pieces before they are then handmade for you by Hala herself. "Nothing is imitated," claims Hala. "Everything is custom-made by hand." She can work from brides' ideas, from photos, or her specialty - from scratch.
More for
weddings
To say thank you to your wedding party, parents or guests arriving from out of town, Hala creates elegant baskets of various sizes, trimming them with beautiful ribbons, flowers, and ornaments. "There can be an assortment of wonderful articles in them," she explains, noting that some of her favourite baskets have contained candles, coloured and shapely bottles filled with perfume, liquid potpourri or scented bath salts, votives in china candle holders, special candies and chocolates that were individually wrapped.
For the little ones playing parts in your ceremony, Hues has lots of great gift ideas.
No matter what kind of wedding theme, no matter what kind of distinct request, Hala can make it (and make it work) for you.
To brides, the most
important thing is to have options. Plenty of them. To Hala, the most important
thing is to offer everything a bride needs to "organize, personalize and
accessorize her wedding." Walking you through your options It's easy for any bride to find what she's looking for within Hues' huge selection of favour supplies and accessories, but it's meeting Hala in person that really gets things rolling. "I design according to the bride's personality and requests," says Hala, "and I'm willing to work within any budget."
Rest assured, the favours, accessories, or jewellery you choose will reflect your likes and dislikes, favourite colours, and how you envision the theme of your special day. "After giving it some deep thought," explains Hala, "I will create that special, one of a kind item for the bridal couple... Or if they choose, they can create it themselves in my store!" Hala says she knows how important and strict wedding planning can get, so that's why she wants the experience of picking that perfect favour to be as fun and creative as possible. "Enjoy your wedding," she says, "and have fun with the planning."
What's involved When it comes to wedding styles and unusual wedding themes, Hala says she's seen it all. And she uses her worldly experience to add details and ideas that you might not have even considered before.
Contacting Hala by email three months in advance of your big day is your best bet. This helps ensure you have enough time to meet with Hala and decide on a design and budget. From that point, Hala will begin working on your fabulous wedding favour and hope it helps make your dream wedding something extraordinary. For Hala, your wedding vision is as important to her as it is to you. "It's the excitement you see in the bride's eyes and being able to be a part of it!"
Hues favours range from $4 to $12 each, however they can be higher or lower depending on what you've got in mind.
