Upscale ceremony and reception options surround the incredible atrium at The Lamplighter

The Best Western name is known nationally by its reputation for service excellence. To London brides, Best Western Lamplighter Inn is known as one of this community's most elegant wedding locales. If you want to truly feel like a princess on your wedding day, this is a very good place to start...

Grand ballrooms, crystal chandeliers, indoor waterfalls, glass ceilings, extensive catering menus, and luxury overnight suites are only a few of the reasons this location books solid for weddings. From your indoor gazebo ceremony to your honeymoon suite, your entire wedding day is taken care of here. Let us explain...

Adding to greatness

Best Western® the world's largest hotel chain with locations across the globe. London's Best Western Lamplighter Inn has been a fixture in the travel and events industry for over thirty years. In 2000, The Lamplighter undertook a full year of renovations that ultimately unveiled The Atrium, an incredible addition that transformed this hotel and event centre into a tropical paradise for travelers and an even more upscale option for corporate and wedding events than it was before. Many brides choose this company knowing that they're working with industry leaders who are almost as much a part of London as any local landmark. Big space, big service and big expectations exceeded with expertise at Hellenic Community Centre

If you have ever been to a Greek wedding you know first hand that many can be grand, family-oriented events that are rich in tradition with extravagant menus, entertainment and dancing, beautiful décor, and a large, large (did we mention large?) number of guests. The staff and management of The Hellenic Community Centre are well-known for being able to plan and execute events of all sizes, ethnicities (including Greek and many more), and menu types. This may be why London brides are booking over a year in advance to have the chance to say 'I Do' at this Southdale Road wedding ceremony and reception locale.

From a romantic candlelit wedding reception for fifty guests to an extravagant twelve hundred guest wedding that encompasses several days and all of the three available halls at the Hellenic Community Centre, anything seems possible here. For staff at The Ring, interviewing Helen, Peter, and Spiro was a joy. It was easy to see that taking care of brides comes naturally to them. Let us explain...

Bridal Elegance

Mom & Daughter turn a century home into an elegant Exeter gown shop

At several London area bridal shows, the staff at The Ring had the name 'Bridal Elegance' whispered in our ears more times then we could count. There was enough 'buzz' around Bridal Elegance that this gown shop was the first company to ever cause us to break our cardinal rule: to interview only companies with a... click for more

We're Engaged!

Post subject: Newly Engaged!!!

"Hi Everyone! Rich and I just got engaged!!! He proposed to me in Victoria Park - where we went on our first date! It was very romantic and felt so unreal! Of course I said "YES" and we laughed, skipped and hugged all the way up Richmond Street to celebrate with dinner. I am so excited to start all the wedding planning! Congrats to all - I hope your wedding is everthing you want it to be!..."

My Diary

Post subject: almost 1 year later!!!

"Well, here I sit, married for almost 1 year!!

I have been checking in from time to time on everyone who is still planning and those who have already gotten married and it is very hard to believe that it has been almost 1 year!

The problems are still the same no matter who is posting and the issues are all still there. Just different people! The dress, the wedding party, food, decor, inlaws and our families- it will never change no matter who it is that is getting married- it will be the same 10 or 20 years from now!

I just want to wish everyone good luck in having the wedding of their dreams and remind you not to stress yourself over the little- or major things- it just isn't worth it!

At this time last year- I was running around sorting out last minute details- trying to find a dress for my daughter, get my boys fitted for tuxes- trying to persuade my husband not to wear all black! I had already changed my mind on flowers 2 times and getting ready to go back for the third time! I was stressing out about photos and if my dress was going to fit right. I was hoping we didn't have any surprises- which we did but, we survived them.

All in all- I just want to wish everyone luck and happy planning!

Kelly Easton..."

"Hello Ladies,

I need your assistance! I am trying to think of a nice gift to give to both of our parents to thank them for their continued support throughout this whole wedding process. I was just wondering what the rest of you are or have done for your parents?

Thanks in advance for assistance with this!..."

Honeymoon Ideas and Planning

Post subject: Canadian honeymoon

"Ok, has anyone known of a couple who stayed in Canada for their honeymoon? And if so, where? We had originally thought of doing the week soaking up the sun the week after the wedding - Mexico or somewhere like that. But two of my girlfriends who got married this year came back with PARASITES - both of them, went at separate times and somehow picked up a parasite. It takes up to six months to get rid of and to be honest, given my age (I will be 31 when I get married next year) we want to try for kids right away, maybe even a bit before the wedding...so you can see my hesitation about going away to the Caribbean. Don't get me wrong - both of us have been to many of the Caribbean islands, but we just don't want to take any chances. So, for Canada we are thinking the Rockies - anyone have any other ideas? Sky is the limit on where and how much we spend, we want to do it right and have a blast..."

My Diary

Post subject: My wedding!

"I got married on the weekend! We are leaving for our honeymoon on Wednesday so I thought I would drop a quick line! The girls and I had our hair and make up done at Side Street Salon (reviewed on here) and they were fantastic. Everyone loved their individual looks - both hair and make-up. The rain held off for us which worked out well so we took the majority of our photos outside. My bridesmaids would throw their coats on in between shots! Our photographer was outstanding! I can't say enough good things about him and his assistant. Our reception went very well and the food was amazing. We heard all good comments. All in all it was a fantastic day!..."

If Men Were In Charge of Planning Weddings...

There would be less "Oh Promise Me" and "Endless Love", and more "Louie, Louie" and "Mony Mony".

There would be a 'Rehearsal Dinner Kegger Party'.

Bridesmaids would wear matching blue jean cut-offs and halter tops. They would have NO tan lines and more skin showing than not.

Tuxes would have team logos on the back and the Nike shoes would have matching team colors.

June Weddings would be scheduled around basketball play-offs.

Vows would mention cooking and sex specifically but omit that "forsaking all others" part.

The couple would leave the ceremony in a souped up '73 Charger or some other Mopar with racing tires and flame designs on the side of the car. Better yet, a Harley!

Idiots that tried to dance with the Bride (unless they were really old) would get punched in the head.

Big slobbery dogs would be eligible for the role of Best Man.

There would be 'Tailgate Receptions'.

Outdoor weddings would be held during sporting events at half-time or between innings.

Ceremonies would be short and Honeymoons would be long.

Ceremonies and Honeymoons would be inexpensive compared to the cost of the Bachelor Party. Those strippers and liquor sure do add up.

Men wouldn't ask...."Well, what do you think, Dear, The Burgundy or the Wine colored napkins?" They'd just grab extras from their local pub or tavern.

Favours would be matchbooks and cigars. Better yet, free drink passes at the local lounge.

The bride's dress would show cleavage, her navel, and be form fitted to her butt.

Instead of a sit down dinner or a buffet, there would be a hog roast or buckets of chicken, pizza and plenty of barbeque.

No one would bother with that 'Veil Routine'. But they would insist the garter be as high up on her leg as it would go.

The bridal bouquet could be recycled from a previous funeral or something.
